How Do I...
Make An Appointment?

Office hours are 8.30am to 6.00pm.

All consultations are by appointment, which can be made in person, or by telephoning during the above opening times (call 01482 344100 or 344101).

If you are unable to keep your appointment please let us know as soon as possible so we can use that time for somebody else.

We try to keep to appointment times and are sorry if you sometimes have to wait before you see the doctor or nurse. This is because some problems take longer to deal with than expected; please bear with us. Monday is our busiest day of the week. If your problem is routine, you might find it easier to contact us later in the week. Each appointment is 10 minutes but if you have several problems you may need to make another appointment.

Urgent Problems

These will be seen by one of the doctors, as soon as possible. In these instances, we instruct our receptionist to ask for more details to help the doctors. We cannot guarantee that a particular doctor will see you.

Follow-Up Appointments

The doctor may ask to see you again (a follow-up appointment). Please note that we try to avoid arranging follow-up appointments on a Monday.

Emergencies

A doctor is always available to deal with emergencies. They can be contacted by telephoning the above numbers in office hours. From 6.00pm to 8.30am you can telephone the deputising service for help on 0845 056 8060, who may not always be one of the doctors from this practice. Please remember that out-of-hours calls are for emergency situations and not for routine care, which could wait until the surgery re-opens.

How Do I...
Obtain A Home Visit?

These are only for those patients who are too ill to come to the surgery. If possible telephone the surgery before 10.00am and explain the problem to the receptionists - one of the doctors may ring to discuss your problem. We try to visit the most ill patients first. The receptionist will ask for your telephone number, as the doctor may need it. Home visits take up a lot of a doctor’s time and often they are unnecessary. Please help us by coming into the surgery whenever possible as consultations at the surgery enable the doctor to use all the equipment available in order to make an informed diagnosis.

How Do I...
Obtain Test Results?

Assessing Test Results And Confidentiality

You will be advised the usual length of time before we can expect your results to be available. Please telephone between 2.00 and 4.00pm to avoid our peak times on the telephone. Please understand that we are bound to maintain patient confidentiality and therefore results will only be disclosed to the patient or to the parents or guardians of minors. Tel 01482 344101.
